#WeNeedAPlan

Interview with Paulina from WeddyPlace

In normal times, 400,000 bridal couples say yes each year. Everything has changed since the pandemic began. Weddings only take place on a small scale or not at all. So that cakes can finally be cut, bouquets thrown and veils lifted, a plan is needed. The #WirNauchenPlan initiative developed one and we spoke to Paulina from WeddyPlace about it.

Who are you?

We are a digital wedding planner (on the web and as an app) that provides bridal couples with comprehensive support in planning their wedding. With us, bridal couples will find everything they need for their wedding, from the location to the stylist. We also have a large magazine that accompanies bridal couples with a lot of inspiration through their wedding planning. A checklist and a budget planner are also tools that many bridal couples like to use with us. We have been around since April 2018, the siblings Daniel and Pauline Koehler founded the company.

What is #WeNeedAPlan about?

The initiative is about weddings having to take place again this year, i.e. 2021. The wedding industry is an industry that brings in around 4 billion euros in sales a year and which includes many solo self-employed and companies. Since many are fighting for their livelihoods and a drop in sales of more than 70% has happened, we really wanted to do something. In our study , we found out how bad the situation is. Since the Association of German Wedding Planners has already developed a very corona-friendly plan (e.g. max. 50 guests, all tested, submit guest list to the health department, etc.), we have teamed up with them to demand exactly the opportunity to let these weddings take place.

What do you want from the federal government?

We hope that the federal government will not forget the industry and will allow weddings with strict templates to take place again this year. Preferably from the beginning of June.

How can I support you?

You can support us by sharing the initiative, supporting it and thus we can build up pressure. We really believe we can make a difference if enough people participate and share the hashtag, the study and our video.

What are you most looking forward to when it can finally start again?

I think we are most happy that the thousands of locations and service providers can work again and earn money again. Then of course we are also very happy to be able to work together again with excited bridal couples who are full of anticipation and of course to finally be able to go to weddings in person again. They are simply the most beautiful celebrations.
